Marc-André Dalbavie (1961) |
Marc-André Dalbavie is a composer who combines electronics with acoustic instruments using spectral composition techniques. I learned a great deal from him at IRCAM in Paris in 1991. He introduced me to his spectacular and hallucinatory piece Seuils (1993) in which one hears a soprano turning into various other instruments of the orchestra. It's from Dalbavie, Grisey and Murail that I learned the principles of spectral music and apply them today in my own music for film.
