The surrealist principles behind Salvador Dalì's art: dreamlike images, incongruence, dada, absurdism, nihilism, 'anti'-art, cynicism, optical illusion and his work with Luis Buñuel have been tremendously influential. My favourite paintings of his are Spain (1938) and The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus (1959).
