Influences

Goblin in 1975

You may not have heard of this Italian rock band and its musicians: Agostino Marangolo (percussion), Antonio Marangolo (saxophone), Walter Martino (percussion), Massimo Morante (guitar), Fabio Pignatelli (bass) and Claudio Simonetti (keyboards). They composed and played much of the music for the films of Dario Argento. The thing I like about this group is that they tend to treat rock music using classical techniques. I enjoy their use of timpani, synthesizers (liquid sounds), unusual time signatures, delay and sinister polyrhythms.

Scores to check out: Profondo Rosso (1975), Suspiria (1977), Patrick (1978) [Italian release version], Tenebrae (1982) and Phenomena (1985).
